We finally have it… our wedding theme. We have chosen to do a Victorian Style wedding with a hint of modern style. I ran into an on-line website over at http://www.askginka.com/themes/victorian-theme-wedding-party.htm which stated that a Victorian wedding includes:
"Queen Victoria
Ivory/White/Pink/Gold/Green
Potted Ferns & Palms
Antique Lace/Damasks/Doilies/Battenburg Lace
Candlelight/Candelabras/Chandeliers
Fine China/Crystal
Ostrich Feathers/Fans/Pearls/Cherubs
Cameos/Pocket Watches
"Sherlock Holmes"
Roses/Orange Blossoms/Pansies/Violets
Jasmine/Lilies/Magnolia Buds/Baby's Breath
Tussy Mussies/Handkerchiefs
Full Skirts (hoops & petticoats) and Bustles
Decorated Shoes/"A Lucky Sixpence In Your Shoe"
Flowergirls & Page Boys (train bearers)
Diamond/Pearl Tiaras
Gloves/Parasols/Big Hats/Corsets/Lace Up Boots
Cutaway Coats/Top Hats/Ascots/Vests
Horse Drawn Carriages
Trellises & Gazebos
Classical Music/Violins/Harps/Piano
Ribbon & Charms Wedding Cake/Fruitcake
Black & White or Sepia Photographs
Monograms
Afternoon Tea/Silver Service
Garden Setting/Historical Building/B &B/Mansion"
Upon reading this list it was apparent to both Dennis and I that this is to be our theme. We already have a lot of these things in our wedding plans but did not have a name for the theme. So, now, we can officially say that we do.
